What is Café Racer?
In 1973, Wallace Wyss, most commonly known in the automotive society for his great works on Shelby Mustangs, wrote a small editorial column in Popular Mechanics about how to install a race fairing on regular motorbikes of the era. In the starting part, he put in plain words how the term “cafe racer” had invented as a derogatory term among the motorcycle racing community in 1950s.
On the current period, we have seen makers cashing in on their past with vintage-styled motor bikes with recent hardware. Love the work of these manufacturers like Triumph, Moto Guzzi, and Royal Enfield creating modern versions of their own history in the Thruxton, V7, and the Continental GT etc. Because they are making Café Racer bikes frequently.
